Northwest Sioux Falls getting new fire station

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Fire Station 11 will be operational a year from now.

Fire Chief Jim Sideras says the city will add 15 new firefighters to the payroll.  He anticipates that the hiring process will begin in the first part of the year with an opening of the station next spring.

Sideras says 11 will house the headquarters for a battalion chief.               

Sideras says northwest Sioux Falls has been booming and response time has grown from existing stations.
