PIERRE, S.D. (KELO AM) – In response to today’s Northern Beef Packers layoff in Aberdeen, the Department of Labor and Regulation (DLR) is available to assist affected workers.

“The Department has experience in responding to both temporary and permanent layoffs,” said state Labor and Regulation Secretary Pam Roberts. “Our staff is prepared to offer assistance to workers in filing unemployment claims and searching for new job opportunities.”

A Rapid Response meeting is scheduled for this Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel convention center located at 1400 8th Ave. NW. Laid off workers should attend to learn what services are available. Both Karen and Spanish language interpreters will be on site.

The Aberdeen DLR office is located at 420 S. Roosevelt St. and can be reached at 605-626-2340. Find more information on programs at www.sdjobs.org.
