Marshall, MN (KELO AM) - Although it is not happening in Sioux Falls yet, Sears has been closing Kmart stores in Minnesota.
Alexandria and Fergus Falls, Minnesota stores closed this spring. The Kmart in Marshall is closing in July. The closing is part of the series of cost cutting measures by Sears Holdings, parent company of K-Mart.
According to the Marshal Independent, the closure of the Kmart in Marshall will affect 57 employees, most working in part time or hourly positions. Eligible employees will receive severance and have an opportunity to apply for positions at area Sears or Kmart stores.
At least a dozen Kmart stores have closed in Minnesota since 2011.
