Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - After a stormy overnight that prompted flash flood watches and warnings for the area, more rain is on the way.  The Flash Flood Warnings have expired for the immediate area.  The Sioux Falls Airport received about an inch of rain between

1:00 a.m. and 1:20 a.m.  There were areas in eastern South Dakota that had radar estimates of 2 to 4 inches of rain since the precipitation started.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for much of the area until 1 a.m. Monday morning.  Heavy rain from Saturday and Saturday night has saturated the ground.   Showers and thunderstorms are likely Sunday and Sunday night.  Heavy rain possible with some of the storms.  An additional one to three inches of rain could fall in the next 24 hours.

Some of the storms Sunday afternoon could be severe, producing hail to the size of half dollars and wind gusts to 60 miles an hour.  An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, especially in northwest Iowa and far southeast South Dakota.

Monday looks to be dry and breezy with a high in the upper 70’s.
