SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man is charged with rape, kidnapping and aggravated assault for keeping his girlfriend in their North Covell Avenue house against her will.
Officer Sam Clemens says 35-year-old Daniel Armstrong Senior was a suspect in an earlier crime and he feared his girlfriend would tell police where he was. Clemen says Armstrong allegedly threatened to kill her and sometimes would strike her.
It was the victim's co-workers who eventually gave police an idea that something was wrong at home. The couple's child also lived wih them. He's charged with two counts of domestic aggravated assault.
Clemens says Armstrong barricaded himself in the house less than an hour last Friday before surrendering to the Emergency Response Team..
