SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police say a man walked into Nails Studio on South Shirley Avenue late Friday morning with five diamonds for sale.
Officer Sam Clemens says the suspect and his prospective clients went to three city jewelers who all said the diamonds were real. Clemens says two victims bought the five diamonds for $4,000.
He says after the transaction, the victims started to get suspicious and took the diamonds back to a jeweler who said they were fake. Somewhere between the first jewelers and the sale the diamonds were switched with the fakes.
Clemens says the victims describe the suspect as a heavy-set black man, in his fifties with greying hair and was driving a green S-U-V.
