Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - At approximately 9:46 p.m. on June 2, 2014, officers of the Sioux Falls Police Department were dispatched to the Pump N Pak located at 1801 South Western Avenue for an armed robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival it was reported that a white female, armed with a knife, had entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. She was given money by the clerk and fled the store. The female was described as wearing a bright yellow shirt, shorts, sunglasses, and a hair band. Video surveillance showed her leaving the store in a maroon four-door vehicle.
At approximately 10:33 p.m., Metro Communications dispatched police to a second armed robbery at HKV Liquor, located at 5512 West 41st Street, involving a female armed with a knife. The description of the perpetrator was the same as the earlier robbery. The owner of the store said the perpetrator had fled the store after being refused any money in a maroon four-door vehicle.
The owner gave a possible license plate number of the vehicle. He said it was last seen headed west on 41st Street and then turned north on a side street. Responding officers did some quick computer work and discovered a plate that was similar to the one given by the store owner that matched the vehicle description from both robberies. The vehicle was a red 2002 Chevy Cavalier four-door registered to a Jenifer Jean Mitch.
As officers were responding to the second robbery, they came across the vehicle at 26th Street and Marion Road. The vehicle was stopped as it entered the nearby Hy-Vee parking lot. Mitch was found to be driving the car. Located in the car were items that linked Mitch to both robberies. Mitch was subsequently arrested, without incident, and lodged in the Minnehaha County Jail for two counts of armed robbery. No injuries were reported during the robberies.
