Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Record crowds jumped in Sioux Falls pools in May.
The City says there were nearly 31,000 visits to the pools last month, shattering the previous opening month record of just under 24,000 set way back in 1988.
May 2014 was also 13,000 visits ahead of the five-year average of 17,543.
Recreation Program Coordinator, Jean Pearson says this is the second season of the electronic swim pass system, which pool workers to easily check in visitors.
She says family swim pass sales have been a huge success as well with more than 1,500 new pass holders registering and approximately 2,100 renewals so far this season.
Renewals can be completed online, at the city pools, or at community centers..
