Undated (KELO AM) - Severe weather went to the north and south of the immediate Sioux Falls area through the overnight hours. Morning thunderstorms will gradually diminish. However, thunderstorm chances will quickly begin to increase by mid-day and especially through Sunday afternoon and evening. A few storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds the main threat.
The bigger concern may be with heavy rain and flash flooding. Slow moving storms may lead to locally heavy rainfall. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from noon Sunday to 1:00 a.m. Monday morning for parts of southeast South Dakota, northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. South Dakota counties in the watch area include Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner, Union, Clay and Yankton. Also included in the watch area are Pipestone, Rock, Lyon, Murray and Nobles Counties in Minnesota, and Lyon, Sioux and Plymouth in Iowa.
Monday should be dry with a high of 78. More severe weather is possible late next week.
