Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at approximately 1:45 a.m. last night. Managers from TC’s Referee and the building manager called 911 when he discovered the fire on the east side of the building.
First arriving responders found smoldering embers behind the American Family Insurance sign. The firefighters cut the soffit and roof open and had the fire extinguished in a few minutes. There was no fire extension into the main structure. Fire crews remained on scene to remove smoke from the soffit and attic space.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to the scene with 4 fire trucks, two support vehicles, and 18 firefighters.
There is not a sprinkler system in the building and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind property and business owners to have contact information up to date in case of emergencies. This information can be updated during the annual fire inspection.
