SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The City is holding Sioux Falls developers accountable to complete subdivision projects.

Mayor Mike Huether says developers who want to build in Sioux Falls will pay a security to make sure they complete projects including street sufaces and utilities.

City Engineer Chad Huwe says when the recession hit in 2008 some developers quit finishing projects.  He says in 2012 nearly 30 subdivisions in Sioux Falls had not completed streets or utilities.

Public Works Director Mark Cotter says the city is finishing a street asphalt job in northwest Sioux Falls that’s being paid for by taxpayers.  All others are in compliance

Cotter says all future deals include a financial security so developers will finish all infrastructures from street surfacing, curb and gutter to street lights.
