SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) The City of Sioux Falls is pleased to announce that Second Avenue from 10th Street to 11th Street in downtown Sioux Falls will be open to traffic on Tuesday evening, July 1, 2014. The construction project has been substantially completed a week early. Key factors in this positive outcome include overall favorable weather, an excellent contracting team, and financial incentives offered by the City to the contractor if certain time conditions were met, including overall early completion of the project.

“Financial incentives are one tool the City uses to encourage timely completion of high-impact projects,” says Chad Huwe, City Engineer. “The City wanted to do everything possible to expedite this project due to its impact on downtown businesses and traffic.”

Because of their diligent effort in meeting contract requirements, the contractor, T & R Contracting, Inc., of Sioux Falls, has earned an incentive payment of $28,000 for the early completion of this construction project.
