Lincoln County, SD (KELO AM) - Officials in Lincoln County are still assessing the full extent of flood damage from last month’s heavy rain. Emergency Manager Harold Timmerman says so far they’ve tallied nearly $2 Million worth of damage to roads and other infrastructure, which he thinks may be enough for a Presidential disaster declaration.
Timmerman says that some roads have been made passable, however further work is required to complete the repairs. In other cases the roadbed itself needs to be completely replaced, or culverts need to be replaced. Timmerman added the other challenge is finding enough manpower to complete the work that needs to be done, as many contractors had their summers workload mapped out before the rains came.
