SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) -The Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation has awarded over $170,000 to hundreds of teachers for innovative ideas not funded by tax dollars.
Foundation Chair Amy Scott-Stoltz says the group will award between $35,000 to $40,000 to more teachers this fall.
The Foundation is holding its inaugural Cash for Classroom Breakfast this Wednesday at Westward Ho Country Club. Scott-Stoltz says the new annual event will update supporters on issues in education, showcase some of the education innovation enabled by the Foundation grants to teachers and thank donors that make the grants available..
Teachers must apply for the grants and a committee determines which proposed projects will be funded. Corporate sponsors donate at least a $1,000 to the Foundation.
