SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - State Attorney General Marty Jackley says six men were arrested in undercover stings at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this year, for trying to get sex from children. Most of the suspects are from out of state.
U.S. Attorney for South Dakota Brendan Johnson says the authorites were busy in Sturgis last week looking for traffickers and their victims.
At the Rally last year, Johnson says nine men were busted in undercover stings. One of the men was sentenced last week to 15 years in prison for thinking he was buying sex from two teenage girls.
Johnson is co-sponsoring a two day violent crime and human trafficking conference opening Tuesday at the Washington Pavilion. He says there have been 13 federal, life sentences handed down for human trafficking and three have come from Sioux Falls in the last four years.
