SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission today approved buying two digital ballot counters for over $200,000.
Auditor Bob Litz says the old machines count 120 ballots a minute and shut down when a spoiled ballot comes through.
Litz says the new machine will count 300 ballots in an hour and any spoiled ballot is kicked out for review but the machine will continue counting
The money comes from the Utilizing Help America Vote Act Funds which is administered by the South Dakota Secretary of State.
