Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - CityLink TV, your link to all City of Sioux Falls government news, is now available in high definition (HD). This achievement comes after three years of work and in partnership with our local cable providers.
Several technology upgrades and equipment replacements needed to be completed to provide HD capability. These projects included updates in 2012 to the Council Chambers’ presentation equipment and broadcast production equipment. In 2013, the CityLink studio, control room, and post-production equipment were upgraded. The final project was completed this year and included upgrades to the automation equipment that provides the CityLink video programming broadcast signal to the cable providers.
CityLink TV can be found on Midcontinent Communications Cable Channels 16 (Standard Definition or SD) and 594 (HD), and WideOpenWest (WOW!) Channels 11 (SD) and 511 (HD).
Rex Buettgenbach, General Manager of WideOpenWest, said, “WOW! is very proud to partner with the City of Sioux Falls in providing CityLink in HD. CityLink provides Sioux Falls residents with valuable information, and now that programming is in the highest quality available.”
Sue Quanbeck Etten, Director of Central Services, said, “We are grateful to both Midcontinent Communications and WideOpenWest for allowing us to have HD channels. We are proud of our program content and have been recording in HD for the last year in anticipation of this upgrade. The HD channels now allow us to broadcast in high definition, and the improved quality is undeniable.”
CityLink programming includes monthly programs about the Mayor, City Council, City departments, and events in the Washington Pavilion, the Arena, and the Orpheum Theater complexes. CityLink also offers live and rebroadcast coverage of City-related meetings, including City Council and Planning Commission meetings.
