SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Meals on Wheels program will soon serve their client’s pets thanks to a grant from the Banfield Pet Hospital.

Sheila Norman is handling AniMeals on Wheels and she’s seeking volunteers.  She says volunteers will deliver pet food, cat litter, walk pets, take them to the groomer, veterinarian or a boarder.

Norman says the grant will supply dollars toward their Meal on Wheels clients' pet needs.  She says a large percentage of their clients have pets and threat them like they were children.

Pets bring seniors joy to a home where they are bound because of physical restrictions.  She says some lcients have had to give their pets away due to financial issues as well.

Norman says AniMeals will help seniors keep their pets.  To volunteer call Active Generations.
