SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A four hour standoff with Sioux Falls Police ended around 11:30 last night when a man surrendered and released a female victim outside a home on West Madison Street.
Police received a call about a male assaulting a female outside the home just after seven. When officers arrived the man and woman went inside.
Lieutenant Dave McIntire says witnesses say they heard screams in the house followed by gunshots. But McIntire says the investigation revealed that there were no gunshots in the incident.
Officers were unable to get the pair out of the home and SWAT was called in. Several homes and apartments were evacuated and streets were closed.
Grady Morris and the woman came out of the house and Morris was arrested for simple assault. The victim suffered scrapes and bruises.
