Sioux Falls S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Police responded to an assault that had occurred at 306 S. Walts Avenue around 4:20 a.m. this morning.

The investigation revealed that a female resident had been involved in a dispute with a male resident at this location.  She received injuries that were caused by a blunt object, while the male resident had received several stab wounds.

Captain Greg VandeKamp says 43-year-old Robert Apple is accused of hitting the woman with a lead pipe.  He says the female victim stabbed Apple in the stomach and back with a kitchen knife.  He couldn't say what led up to the argument and fight.

Both individuals were transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At this time, the investigation is continuing.
