Sioux Falls, SD - September 18, 2014 - With a commitment to showcasing local musicians, Cinema Falls has paired live musical acts with three upcoming films on its programming roster for September 21st, October 5th and October 19th.
Screening this Sunday, September 21 is the film THE TRIP TO ITALY from the United Kingdom, directed by Michael Winterbottom. A sequel to box office success THE TRIP starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, the film is a delicious culinary comedy with witty conversation over gourmet meals set amongst breathtaking scenery. The film will be shown at ICON Lounge with the option of a pre-film dinner ticket. Italian food served family style at 5PM is $30 for dinner and the movie. Serenading diners will be cellist Maxim Koslov, former principle of the SD Symphony who will be flying in from Baltimore, Maryland. Cinema Falls will move to the West Mall 7 on October 5th for the French feature film JAPPELOUP directed by Christian Duguay. Starring Guillaume Canet, the film tells the true story of Olympic showjumper Pierre Durand. For Olympic and equestrian fans and those who simply loved films like SEA BISCUIT or SECRETARIAT, this film is a "do not miss." Start time for this West Mall screening has been moved up to 4PM door entry and 4:30PM film start. Film has English subtitles. "We did a lot of detective work for months to secure this film for a local Francophile," stated founder, Julie Anderson Friesen. "With the West Mall 7's new digital technology and in their renovated theater, it will be a very immersive experience - as if we're all at the Olympics." Cinema Falls ticket buyers for JAPPELOUP will be invited to dine with a special menu for food purchase and cash bar at Minnehaha Country Club following the film, with live music from the Jeffrey Paul Jazz Duo. Cinema Falls returns to Icon Lounge on October 19th for TAKE ME TO THE RIVER, a music documentary bringing together multiple generations of award-winning Memphis and Mississippi Delta musicians as they make an album. The soundtrack is currently available on iTunes and was USAToday's Album of the Week. The film features Terrence Howard, William Bell, Snoop Dogg, Mavis Staples, Otis Clay, Lil P-Nut, Charlie Musselwhite, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Yo Gotti, Bobby Rush, Frayser Boy, The North Mississippi All Stars and many more. Doors open at 5:30pm on October 19th so guests can enjoy local musician Chris Champion who will play a blues and glass slide guitar program prior to the film's start at 6:30pm. Thursday, December 4th - Cinema Falls will host an exclusive advance screening and Pyramid After Party for local filmmaker Nick Simon's horror film THE PYRAMID at Century 14 Theaters.
