SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) – Severe thunderstorms visited the region to the south and east of Sioux Falls Friday, with numerous reports of one inch hail, strong winds and some tree damage, especially in northwest Iowa.

However, fall is right around the corner according to the calendar.   It is time to think about getting the vehicle winterized and check on your snow blower.

Good advice that you might be wise to heed.

The National Weather Service is saying that a near normal winter is likely in western South Dakota.  The eastern part of the state and surrounding areas of Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska could see more snow this year.

If temperatures are not as cold as last year, more frequent and heavier snows are possible.
