Sioux Falls, SD (KWSN) — The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, Sioux Falls School District, and Sioux Falls O’Gorman have agreed to hold a series of high school basketball games early next year to provide local student athletes the opportunity to play in the new venue.
The games are regularly scheduled season games for the teams. The schedule kicks off with Sioux Falls O’Gorman hosting Sioux Falls Roosevelt in a key girls match-up on Tuesday, February 10 at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game featuring the same schools.
These games also provide an opportunity for Summit League Basketball Tournament volunteers to get acquainted with the PREMIER Center ahead of next year’s tournament.
“It’s a great opportunity for the tournament’s volunteers, and a great opportunity for the student athletes to be the first—or among the first—players on the new court,” says Mark Meile, Coordinator of Athletics and Physical Education with the Sioux Falls School District.
The games continue on Friday, February 13, as the Washington High School girls host Rapid City Central at 2 p.m. and the boys teams taking the court at 4 p.m., followed by the Lincoln High School girls playing Rapid City Stevens at 6 p.m. and the boys teams playing at 8 p.m.
All school athletic passes will be honored at the door. Ticket prices are the same as they would be for a regular home game-- $5 for adults, $3 for students each day.
To volunteer for the high school games and the Summit League Tournament, contact the Sioux Falls Sports Authority at 373-2041.
The Summit League Basketball Tournament returns to Sioux Falls at its new home in the PREMIER Center March 7-10. All-session passes are now on sale and are available at the KELOLAND Box Office inside the PREMIER Center, through www.ticketmaster.com, charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or at all Ticketmaster outlets.
