SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Summer rains reduced attendance at the Sioux Empire Fair by over 8.5% this year.
Still, Fair Manager Scott Wick says the Fair’s net profit is $220,000. Wick says total costs were just over a million dollars and revenue was about $1.3 million dollars
Wick attributes the profit to the third year of an extended fair schedule.
One of the more popular exhibits at the Sioux Empire Fair this year, especially during rain, was the Pipestone Discovery Building.
Wick says managers from across the region came to see the Pipestone. He says it's one of only five such educational buildings in the nation.
