SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Game, Fish and Parks reminds hunters to properly handle game meat in the field as warm temperatures continue this weekend.Regional Supervisor Emmett Keyser says remove the entrails as soon as possible.  Keyser says it'S important to get the bb's out of the bird because they can penetrate the gut and that can spoil the meat or make it taste "funny."

Keyser says it's important that hunters know what has to remain on game so wardens can identify their gender if it's being checked.  He says all the information is on the G, F and P website or available in the hunter's guide available at all licensing locations.

Since you can’t get a deer into a cooler, Keyser suggests boning out deer in the field, getting the hide off and cooling the meat as soon as possible.
