SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - According to the latest Sioux Falls School District employee exit surveys, 95% percent of respondents would recommend the District to others.
But School Board President Kent Alberty says the District struggles to find and keep high quality employees. Alberty says it's difficult to compete with school districts in Iowa and Minnesota where teacher pay is higher.
Surveys were sent to over 200 staffers leaving the Sioux Falls School District and about100 responded which the District says is not enought to assume the results reflect the broader population.
Of the teaching and administrative staff, 37 % said retirement was the reason for leaving.
The School Board tonight also sets the election dates in April for two terms ending next year and a vote on the District's beginning dates.
