Brookings, SD (KELO AM) - Employees are feverously emptying a grain bin at a Brookings elevator in an attempt to find a missing SDSU student. 26 year old Jacob Heisinger disappeared early Thursday morning last week and was last seen in downtown Brookings. Police put out the call for tips on his location Monday night, and right away a tip came in about the Ag-First elevator on 1st st.

While police won’t give exact details of the tip, it was enough to lead them to focus on just the grain bin being emptied. The Ag-First staff is hoping to have the bin emptied by Wednesday, hauling over 40,000 bushels away one load at a time.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the location at this time, further details will be passed along as they become available.

Below is the previous story on this case:

Brookings authorities are searching a grain bin hoping they won’t find 26-year-old Jacob Heisinger who has been missing since Thursday.

Police Chief Jeff Miller says emergency crews are at Ag-First elevator on First Street South in Brookings.  Millers says emergency responders received a tip this morning that led them to the bin.

Miller says the search may continue into Wednesday.  He's asking residents to stay away from the search site for public safety and the time needed to complete the work.

Heisinger was last seen early Thursday morning in downtown Brookings.
