SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Halloween is one of the most anticipated nights of the year for kids of all ages.

Sioux Falls Fire-Rescue Division Chief Brad Goodroad says parents should plan their kid’s trick-or-treat route.  Goodroad says make sure kids cross streets at the corners, on crosswalks and controlled intersections.  Walk on sidewalks and watch for cars backing out of driveways.

Drivers need to slow down in neighborhoods and watch for kids darting out into the middle of the streets.

Treat-givers should have porch lights on and remove leaf debris or other obstacles in your driveway, sidewalk and steps.

Goodroad says Halloween safety is the responsibility of parents, drivers, treat givers and children.
