SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The campaign for governor of South Dakota has, from the beginning, been a steep slope for Democrat Susan Wismer.
Pre-election financial reports show Wismer spending over $238,000 compared to Governor Daugaard’s $875,000.
Wismer claims every cabinet secretary in state government kicks in at least a thousand dollars every election cycle and hundreds of state employees are expected to contribute too.
Wismer is the first woman nominated as a gubernatorial candidate by a major political party in South Dakota.
