SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO AM) - The city of Sioux Falls is kicking-in a million dollars next year to support multi-unit affordable housing projects.
Director of Community Development Darrin Smith says developers can apply online for new housing projects. Smith says the city will look at the number of units, affordabilty of the rent, targeted income of residents and how close the project is to schools, transportation, stores and jobs.
Smith says applications are on the City's website at siouxfalls.org/affordablehousing or from the Affordable Housing Division office at 235 Westh Tenth Street, the lower level of CarnegieTown Hall.
Smith says Sioux Falls population grows by 3,000 residents each year, about the size of Canton. He says the city added the population of Aberdeen, South Dakota's third largest city, over the last decade.
