Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) The city says snow gates worked well for the first real snow this season in Sioux Falls....but they're not perfect.
Snow can still build up in front of your driveway, especially if deep snow builds up under the plow and then curls around and across the gate. The snow plows may take longer than in past years to get to your neighborhood.
Saturday's snow alert was the first time snow gates were used across Sioux Falls since the voters approved their use in last April's municipal election.
Use of the gates may be suspended if snow is too deep or too wet. City Streets Superintendent Gaylen Huber says he's not looking forward to the first real wet snow.
