SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A female clerk at the B-P convenience store on West Russell Street escaped serious injury Saturday night when a man wearing a ski mask threw a lit, fireworks device at her.
Officer Sam Clemens says the man entered the store around 10:20, told her he had a bomb, lit it and threw the device at her. Clemens says the clerk deflcted the device with her arm and it landed, smoking, on the floor. He says from the description on the reports, it sounds like the device may hay been a large number of sparklers with a mortar-type firework in the middle. The larger firework did not detonate
Clemens says the suspect didn’t demand money or take anything and fled on foot. There is surveillance video but the suspect wore a face mask and is not recognizable.
