SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The ever-popular Police and Metro Communications’ “Citizens' Academy” is accepting application until December 11th.
Officer Sam Clemens says class size is limited to 25. Clemens says applicants will go through a background check to become eligible.
The training topics include patrol, K-9, crime scene, crime prevention, investigative methods, fraud, narcotics, thefts and assault.
Metro Communications will hold presentations on their duties and on how the 911 call center works.
Classes are three hours on Thursday nights for ten weeks at the Law Enforcement Center. The 2015 session begins January 15. There is no cost to the academy. Applications are available at the city's website, http://siouxfalls.org/Police/Citizens_Academy.aspx.
