Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - The mild weather will come to an end as a cold front comes through the area today. Drizzle and fog will give way to freezing rain, sleet and snow heading into Monday.
Light rain will begin early Monday morning, transitioning to freezing rain and sleet Monday morning, changing to snow Monday afternoon before tapering off in the evening.Forecaster Kyle Weiser at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says we could see ice accumulations of one to two tenths of inch, followed by three to four inches of snow.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most of southeast South Dakota and southwest Minnesota from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. The freezing rain, ice and snow will cause travel difficulties, at Noontime and especially for the evening commute.
Cities included in the advisory area include Yankton, Brookings, Madison, Mitchell, Marshall, Slayton, Fulda, Pipestone, Luverne and Sioux Falls.
