SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The state and city are taking Friday after Christmas off so the Minnehaha County Commission decided to follow suit.
Commissioner Jeff Barth said he doesn’t want people to think the county isn’t on duty.
He says hundreds of Minnehaha County employees will be working; as correctional officers, as sheriff's deputies and, if need be, snow plow operators. He says the county will be on the job Friday after Christmas.
The commission felt that since the governments are dependent on one another it makes sense for an administrative holiday.
