Hartford, SD (KELO-AM) Some West Central School District parents have formed 'Save Our Future', to keep the new Cherry Lake subdivision on the growing west side of Sioux Falls from merging with city schools.
The group has started a petition drive to get the issue before West Central voters this spring.
Group Spokeswoman, Lisa Engels says this merger would be a precedent as Sioux Falls continues to grow to suck up more tax revenue. She says West Central schools stand to lose $300,000 per year under the deal that the Sioux Falls School Board approved December 8th. It now awaits a decision by the West Central School Board and thus the petition push.
