SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - No one was injured when a .45 caliber handgun accidently fired while a man was cleaning it yesterday afternoon in a South Summit Avenue apartment.
Captain Greg VandeKamp says 24-year-old Lane Langle of Mitchell initially told Sioux Falls police a different story.
Langle told officers that the round fired when he dropped the magazine. He later recanted and admitted that he thought the gun was empty while cleaning it. Langle was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm.
The round did not penetrate the concrete ceiling into the apartment above.
Langle was visiting friends in Sioux Falls.
