SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - This year’s “School Zone Enforcement and Safety Week” begins Monday and runs through Friday, August 30th.
Captain Greg VandeKamp says extra officers and Highway Patrol Troopers will work school zones next week.
VandeKamp says the effort highlights the importance of school zone safety. He says anytime you see children in school zones you should slow down. He says school zones are very obvious because you'll see flashing lights or a crosswalk guard. The speed limit is 15 miles an hour in school zones. The minimum fine for speeding in Sioux Falls is $87.
VandeKamp says while kids are in school officers and troopers will watch high complaint streets.
