SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Senator John Thune says the federal government’s new dietary guideline report left out lean red meat.
Thune says that’s totally unacceptable and he’s firing off a letter to the heads of Agriculture and Health.
Thune's letter also requests that the departments extend the 45 day comment period to ensure that the stakeholders who care about this issue have enough time to review the report.
Thune says the report is almost 600 pages. He says new dietary guidelines are issued every five years.
