Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Absentee voting started Monday for the Sioux Falls School Board election April 14th, which includes the big question whether school should start before or after Labor Day.
Minnehaha County Auditor Bob Litz says it remains to be seen whether the start date debate will be a "hot button" issue that will increase turnout. Typically, Litz says, school board elections have low turnouts, only about three percent of register voters.
Voters will fill two vacancies on the Sioux Falls School Board. The terms of Kate Parker and Todd Thoelke expire in July.
Absentee ballots will be available at the County Auditors Office from 8 am until 5 pm, Monday through Friday, through April 13, 2015.
