
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) -This is Severe Weather Awareness week in South Dakota a time to practice your safety plans.
Forecaster Todd Hietkamp holds a severe weather awareness training session tonight at the Washington Pavilion.
The 7 to 9 session is open to the public at no cost.
A mock tornado drill will be held Wednesay, April 22. Heitkamp says a test tornado watch will be issued Wednesday morning at 10 followed by a test tornado warning at 10:15. The mock drill will end at 10:30. This is a time to put your tornado safety drill to the test and treat this event as the real deal.
Heitkamp says you should have a tornado safety plan for home, work, school and the outdoors.
