Sioux Falls Construction Projects

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Here are the road, park and utility projects that could cause delays in your commute:

 

Laurel Oak Park Construction

Beginning on Monday, June 1, 2015, construction work will begin at Laurel Oak Park, located at 3401 East 49th Street. The work will entail the addition of new tennis courts, the relocation of the softball field backstop, and new sidewalk.

Construction at the park will last until mid-July.

Park users are urged to use caution near the construction area.

 

McKennan Park Construction

Beginning on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, construction work will begin at McKennan Park, located at 400 East 26th Street. The work consists of installing new athletic surfacing on the existing tennis courts. The tennis courts will be closed during this work.

The tennis courts are expected to reopen to the public in approximately two weeks.

Park users are urged to use caution near the construction area.

 

Bahnson Avenue Curb Repairs

33rd Street to 41st Street

Beginning on Monday, June 1, 2015, curb repair work will begin on the east side of Bahnson Avenue from 33rd Street to 41st Street.

The project includes removal and replacement of curb and gutter, and sidewalk at various locations along the project. Work will begin with sawing of the existing asphalt for the curb and gutter replacement. Two way traffic will be maintained, but parking on Bahnson Avenue may be restricted.

This work is expected to be completed in approximately two weeks.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

 

Reminder

Westport Avenue Overlay Begins June 1

Beginning on Monday, June 1, 2015, construction crews will begin work on Westport Avenue between Sencore Drive and 60th Street North. Westport Avenue will be closed to traffic from Sencore Drive through the Benson Road intersection. Traffic will be detoured north on I-29 to 60th Street North and south on I-29 to Russell Street. Access to businesses near the Sanford Sports Complex will be off of 60th Street North, south on Westport Avenue to 51st Street.

Beginning on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, Westport Avenue between Sencore Drive and 60th Street North will be closed to traffic to allow the contractor to mill the street surfacing. The contractor will maintain local traffic for area businesses. Access to businesses near the Sanford Sports Complex will be off of I-29, east on Benson Road.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of June, 2015.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

Fireside Avenue Closure

Beginning on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, Fireside Avenue will be closed on the south side of 52nd Street to allow construction crews to replace a valley gutter. Traffic on 52nd Street will not be affected by this closure.

This work is expected to be complete in approximately one week.

Lane Closure – South Minnesota Avenue

Beginning on Monday, June 1, 2015, the outside southbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue will be closed for approximately 200 feet to the south of West Betcheller Lane. All traffic movements will be maintained throughout the duration of this closure.

First Rate Excavate will be performing underground utility work, which is anticipated to be complete by the afternoon of June 5, 2015.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

 

Street Construction

57th Street and Louise Avenue

Beginning on Monday, June 1, 2015, concrete street repairs will begin at the intersection of 57th Street and Louise Avenue.

Beginning Monday, the northbound inside through lane and southbound inside left turn lane on Louise Avenue will be closed at 57th Street. The outside westbound lane on 57th Street at Louise Avenue will also be closed as part of this work. The closures will begin after 8:30 a.m. on Monday, and are expected to take approximately one week to complete.

Various additional lanes will be closed throughout the week. Drivers should remain alert to changing road conditions and slowed or stopped traffic near the work zone.
