Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 107th Annual Meeting Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, featuring Miami Heat President Pat Riley as the keynote speaker.
Pat Riley is a nine-time National Basketball Association World Champion, as well as the only Head Coach in NBA history to capture Coach of the Year honors with three different teams: the Los Angeles Lakers, the New York Knicks, and the Miami Heat. Earlier this year, the Sioux Falls Skyforce signed a two-year deal to be the exclusive D-League partner of the two-time defending NBA champion Heat.
Pat Riley reached the 1,000 victory plateau faster than any other coach or manager in the four major North American professional sports leagues. He currently stands as the all-time leader in both regular season and postseason victories for both the Lakers and the Heat.
While being professional basketball's second winningest coach, Pat Riley was also rated by Success Magazine as "the best in his field." He is a consummate competitor who knows the exhilaration that comes with victory. His philosophy is based upon winning, leadership, mastery, change and personal growth as well as understanding and controlling the shifting dynamics of a team -- any team, whether it is a small company, a giant corporation, a city or a group of athletes. Pat Riley's books "Showtime" and "The Winner Within" have appeared on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
At the Annual Meeting, the Chamber will share the priorities for the 2013-14 year and also distribute its Annual Report, which details activities of the past year. Working with HenkinSchultz Communication Arts under the theme "Better Together," the Chamber's Annual Meeting recognizes the efforts of the outgoing Chair of the Board and launches the one-year term of the incoming chair. Keith Severson, Eide Bailly LLP, will take over the Chamber's top volunteer position Oct. 1, following the success of 2012-13 Chair of the Board Rob Oliver, Augustana College. The contributions of retiring directors will also be acknowledged. Lyle Dabbert, Brown & Saenger, is chairing the event and Jeff Parker, Parker Transfer & Storage; Liz Lloyd, Lloyd Companies; Mike Begeman, Sanford Health; Jerry Nachtigal, Citi; and Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, are heading up ticket sales.
Chamber members will receive their invitations in the coming weeks. The event will be held at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, beginning with a reception at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner and program starting at 7 p.m. The cost is $80 per person for Chamber members or $160 per person for non-members. Reserved tables of 10 are available ($800 per table). Chamber members can pre-order tickets by contacting Maddie Gutierrez at the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce at 605.373.2015 or mgutierrez@siouxfalls.com.
