Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - The City of Sioux Falls is cleaning up downed trees and branches as the result of recent severe weather. The public can assist in this cleanup effort by reporting any damage to trees in the public right-of-way to the Parks and Recreation Maintenance Headquarters at 367‑8150 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Reports after hours can be made to Metro Communications at 367-7000. Emergency calls should use 911.

Emergency response crews are currently addressing high-priority calls involving public safety and property damage. Several crews have been organized to systematically address tree damage that requires aerial equipment. Cleanup crews also have been organized and assigned to areas to pick up large-sized, downed branches and remove hangers. Depending on the type of tree damage, you may see several crews working in your neighborhood.

Although City crews will pick up larger branches that have fallen from trees in the public right-of-way, property owners are responsible for smaller branches and for cleaning up and disposing of branches in their yards. Property owners are asked to tarp their loads to reduce the chance of losing branches while transporting to disposal sites.

A free branch drop-off is available at Mueller Pallets located at 27163 271st Street, Sioux Falls. See the map on page 2. Hours of operation for Mueller Pallets are Mondaythrough Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.; and closed Sundays.
