SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether has proposed a $556 million capital spending plan, which includes the largest investment in roads in city history.
The new five-year plan would include many major reconstruction projects, including the 12th street bridge, Madison Street, and Minnesota Avenue.
The city would use a unique truck mounted laser system to survey every street in town. Huether says each street would be graded for maintenance priorities.
Huether's proposal to Sioux Falls City Council would invest approximately $220 million in road improvement and reconstruction.
The plan also includes about $10.5 million for Foundation Park, the mega-business site, developing on the city's northside. Huether called it a "beast" of a project.
