Final FEMA flood plain map still a year away

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - FEMA’s preliminary flood insurance rate maps now show nearly 1,800 Sioux Falls properties benefiting from lower rates.

City planner Jeff Schmidt cautions that the maps are preliminary and there may be a one percent change at adoption.

FEMA holds public meetings in Sioux Falls later this month and final approval is expected at the end of next year.
