SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) -Senator John Thune yesterday urged colleagues to pass the Developing a Reliable and Innovative Vision for the Economy Act.
Thune says the Department of Transportation projects a 45 percent increase in freight hauled by 2040.
Thune says South Dakota faced significant challenges moving grain from the state because of congestion in the rail network. He says the delays significantly increased the costs of moving grain by rail which negatively impacted the pocketbooks of producers DRIVE is a six year transportation funding bill.
Thune says the bipartisan bill is designed to modernize the nation's infrastructure and transportation systems.
