Fire Rescue called to house fire on Olive Dr.

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM): Monday afternoon at approximately 4:30 Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a fire in a single family home. The homeowner was home at the time and called 911.

Fire units arrived to find a fire in the basement of the single story ranch style home. Fire crews were able to extinguished the fire within 17 minutes, containing the fire to just one room. The rest of the home suffered smoke damage. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported, and everyone in the house at the time of the fire escaped safely. 

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 4 support vehicles, 5 fire trucks, and 25 personnel. The cause of the fire is under investigation. They were assisted by Sioux Falls Police Department, Paramedics-Plus Ambulance, Mid-American Energy, and Xcel Energy.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to test their smoke detectors monthly.
