Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) There are still teaching positions yet to be filled, especially in special education, as South Dakota's largest school system prepares to open for business September 8th.
Sioux Falls School District Spokeswoman Dee Ann Konrad says there are always some openings, but each year it seems increasingly more difficult to fill them.
Sioux Falls keeps growing and so does the school system. Konrad says at least 300 additional children are expected this school year and that is a conservative estimate.
The later start date of September 8th was approved by the voters in April. Konrad says there are people on both sides of the issue. She says it will certainly give the school system extra time to finish construction projects.
