SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Ethanol producer POET released a key economic impact study revealing $13.5 billion in sales for America’s businesses.
P-R Director Matt Merritt also points to POET's impact on reducing foreign oil dependence.
Sioux Falls-based POET makes over 1.5 billion gallons of ethanol a year, eleven percent of the country’s total output.
Merritt says a first-ever economic impact study shows the impacts to farmers and communities. He adds that burning a gallon of ethanol, opposed to gasoline, results in a 35% reduction of carbon dioxide.
POET is headquartered in Sioux Falls and operates in seven states.
